Nice to see that those two are doing so well together
Maike got Aragon couple of years ago and are developing so well together. Aragon is out of our old breeding mare Sveifla f.Lambanesi & Ágústínus f.Melaleiti. We got his sister here in Iceland in our breeding so this is a dopple good news to receive news from those two His sister is also out of Sveifla & Águstínus & will only be used as a breeding mare because she hurt her leg as a foal.. Lena & Maike got the same note and received 1.plaze together on OSI Gut Sandheide & earlier they won five gait on another competition auf Grenzlandturnier.
„Ein schönes Wochenende liegt hinter uns: das gemütliche Grenzlandturnier in Meppen war sehr "gezellig" und schön organisiert.

Sandheide: F1-Spitze für Maxheimer und Topphoff
Nächstes Kapitel auf dem OSI Gut Sandheide war der Fünfgangpreis. Spannend und nach Platzziffern ging's für Lena Maxheimer und Orka frá Ármóti zu Gold vor Maike Topphoff und Aragon frá Lambanesi, Janne Böckmann gewann Bronze auf Baldur frá Skúfslæk. Heike Decker und Svali gewannen die Kür, Gold in der Mannschafts-Stafette ging an Anna Wiemers, Antonia und Carlotta Gustafsson samt Pia Kiewitt.

Oval track coming soon

Our Breedingmare got awarded
Now at this time one year ago we where among 10 other farms nominated as breeders of the year... We got that honor to be awarded as “Breeders Of the year in IcELAnd” 2014.We showed many breeding horses this year but not many from our own breeding. We showed three and was one of them awarded yesterday for being the highest 4 year old mare (Garún f. Garðshorni á Þelamörk) in our region by HEÞ (Hrossaræktarsamband Eyfirðinga- og Þingeyinga) the other one (Vissa f.Lambanesi) was also high judged but not born in this region, we where breeding in the west at the time she was born.
All together that four year old mare, Garún is among the highest three 4 year old mares that where showed this year in Iceland. To be able to be awarded breeder of the year in iceland you need to show at least 4 horses.. Maybe another day
We planed to put Garún to stallion but it didn´t work this time so she will be taken in for training around desember/januar and will probably be showed again.Sheep Festival in the East
Last weekend we went to the east to sheep Festival last weekend. It was a great weekend with great people. There we brought two sheeps with us back home from Jói & Fjóla á Gunnarsstöðum to get new good blood into our herd.Stallions used & sold
We brought some breeding mares to interesting stallions this year. We used Hersir f.Lambanesi, Skýr f.Skálakoti, Erill f.Einhamri & Jarl f.Höskuldsstöðum for example.
This Handsome Stallion jarl f.Höskuldsstöðum is one of the stallion we used this year for our highest judged mare (Vissa). We sold Jarl newly to Germany & wish new owner all the best with this great horse in the future....
Horse round-up
Laufskálarétt is horse-round up located in Skagafjörður. We went there not long time ago and bought our self a breeding mare from my cousin Jón í Neðri-Ási, that is actually where I (Birna) bought my first mare I planed to put into breeding
Great tour we went over there. We got one breeding mare, foal & a foal in the stomach of the breeding mare & had a great day & evening there. Always fun to do such unexpected things Good end of the competition Season

Jarl f.Höskuldsstöðum & Vissa f.Lambanesi
Good week & weekend ahead. I went to the south to meet other sheep judger & judge sheeps together Went to Flekkudalur, Langholt, judged sheep in S-Ármót and picked up couple of mares that where by stallions & some training horses in Steinnes. Around 600 heyballs at home & good end of the competition season on Akureyri is over.
We went to Akureyri with few horses to compete on this weekend. All of them where competing for the first time in sportcompetition on oval track. Vissa has been to A-flokkur but all the others have never been on the track before. We where very satisfied with the results of the day. Agnar rode Jarl f.Höskuldsstöðum in fivegait and tölt and won both. Jarl is six year old stallion that we have had in training and showed last summer with good results. Vissa & Birna won pacetest and was number three in fivegait.
What is also exciting is that one month ago we have put Vissa to Jarl, so this combination will hopefully bring us some further happiness with the outcome in the foal that is coming next spring from those two horses

Training from youngsters
Now we are starting to brake in our youngsters and is Vissa´s first offspring for example one of them. We are very satisfied with this group of horses and look forward to work with them. We have for example never had horses with so much mane.. We think that two of the horses will probably get 10 for mane Very pretty...
I took some photos of the stallion herd not so long ago and made a video.. Those stallions are from 1 year to 6 year old the oldest. Four of them we are braking in now at the moment.. Have a look at the guys.....

Nú er léttu og skemmtilegu haustmóti Léttis lokið. Mótið tókst í alla staði vel og var þægileg stemming á mótinu. Fáir en góðir hestar mættu til leiks og var gaman að sjá að skráningin var mest í fimmgang. Agnar Þór Magnússon sigraði bæði tölt og fimmgang á gæðingnum Jarli frá Höskuldsstöðum. Þetta var fyrsta mót þeirra og óhætt er að setja að framtíðin er björt hjá þessum hesti. Vignir Sigurðsson og Nói frá Hrafnsstöðum sigrðuðu fjórganginn með einkunnina 7,23. Birna Tryggvadóttir og Vissa frá Lambanesi sigrðuðu gæðingaskeiðið með glæsibrag og þess má geta að hún Vissa er einmtti fylfull við Jarl frá Höskuldsstöðum. Höskuldur Jónsson sem tók þátt í öllum úrslitum dagsins sigraði svo 100m skeiðið á Hákoni frá Sámsstöðum.

One stallion came uninvited to the mare group last fall so we made the doctor give some of our young mare a shoot so they would not get a foal out of this adventure..... The plan was to train them a bit first. But... Not long time ago we noticed that one would soon have a foal..
And .... there he came... A Pretty one... We are very happy about that this shoot did not work this time and we got this good looking fellow

The father is a young stallion Krapi f. Hjarðarholti, son of Hrímnir f. Ósi that we sold last fall..(Picture above) Here is a picture of him taken when he was 4 years old.

Þessi litli laumufarþegi var sprautaður úr mömmu sinni síðastliðin vetur. Það gekk ekki betur en svo að mamman kastaði þessum myndarhesti í fyrradag og erum við bara mjög ánægð með að sprautan virkaði ekki.
Hestfolaldið er undan Hrímnissyni sem við seldum síðastliðið haust og er þetta frumraun hjá bæði hryssunni og stóðhestinum... Útkoman er spennandi og við í sæluvímu með nýja gripinn.

I was looking through pictures/videos and found this nice video that was made last winter. This was a nice weekend we had here in the north and the first time we made some kind of a breeding show together with some horses out of our breeding
It was very much fun for us. Vissa did not get foal last year so she was inside, Hersir fra Lambanesi was in training in the West & came over to partisipate on the stallionshow and then we took one young mare to just show a bit with them.
Hersir & Vissa are out of Elding f.Lambanesi, so they are brother & sister. Now Hersir is going this summer to Belgium and Vissa & Garún where both by stallion. So first and last time that those horses come together

Horse breeders in northern part of Iceland and the riding club Léttir are holding a interesting horse weekend (17-18 apríl). Over this weekend people will get the opportunities to meet and get to know some horse breeders in north part of Iceland, see two horse shows and get inspiration from a Icelandic horse trainer.

Schedule:
On Friday evening the horse weekend will start with a horseshow called „Fákar & Fjör”. Fákar & Fjör is a horseshow with group of mares, stallions, breeding shows, kids and ….On Saturday morning the day will start with demonstration with a Icelandic horse trainer in the riding arena in Akureyri. After the demonstration a bus will be driving to six breeding farms where each farm will give the visitors interesting view on the breeding and what each farm has to offer. On Saturday night evening there will be a stallion show in the riding arena in Akureyri and party afterwards.

Last year they moved to the north and will from now on name all their horses from Garðshorn á Þelamörk.They get around 2-5 foals each year and have their old mare, Sveifla f. Lambanesi and her offspring been giving them good horses through the years. Sveifla does not live any more but there are two of her daughters used as breeding mares in Garðshorn today with some others.
Last year They or new owners of horses out of their breeding showed five horses for breedingshows (average age 5,4 years). From all breeders in Iceland their breeding got the highest avergage overall score (8,27) and the highest average for riding ability (8,40) and for that reason they where awarded from the Horse breeders association of Iceland Breeder of the year. „We are pretty proud to be able to tell that our breeding was nominated with 10 best breedingfarms in Iceland 2013. Year later (2014) we got that honor to be awarded as Breeder of the year.”

Last winter we sold two of our breeding mares to Finnland. That where Gloria f.Glóru & Vaka f.Hólabaki. Anki,Freja & Family got them with foals over and now they have some beautiful offspring out of them. Vaka got mare foal out of Hersir f.Lambanesi and Gloria got stallion foal with Sólon f.Skáney.

Horses from Our Breeding on the Competition track

In Iceland went Reynir Örn with Laxnes f.Lambanesi (6year old) for his second time on the track, competet in masterclass & got 6,62 and second place in Open sport competition in Hörður in Mosfellsbær.
In Germany two horses out of our breeding were competet on in the sport for the first time and did both very well. It was North German championship OSI in Lingen (WR). They where both competing in five gait, Höll f.Lambanesi, 6 year old mare got 6,43 & Aragon f.Lambanesi, seven year old stallion got 6,17. Good start

Á Íslandi fór Reynir Örn með Laxnes f.Lambanesi (6 vetra) í annað sinn á keppnisvöllin. Reynir og Laxnes keptu í meistaraflokki á Opnu íþróttamóti hjá Herði í Mosfellsbæ og hlutu þeir félagar 6,62 í
Í Þýskalandi voru tvö hross í úrslitum á Norður-Þýska Meistaramótinu OSI í Lingen(WR). Bæði hrossin voru að fara í fimmgangskeppni í fyrsta sinn. Höll f.Lambanesi, hryssa á sjötta vetri og Aragon f.Lambanesi, sjö vetra stóðhestur. Góð byrjun hjá þessum snillingum

Highest 4 year old mare

Our Mare Garún f.Garðshorni á Þelamörk ended up to be the highest one in group of 4 year old mares on FM á Austurlandi. We are very happy about how well she developed and how good her mother and her father matched together. Already looking forward to see what she will bring us in the future.
Good news from Germany

Aragon f.Lambanesi & Maike Topphoff are doing well in Germany.
Maike got Aragon when he was 4 years old after he was showed in Fizo here in Iceland. She has been working well with him and got Þórður Þorgeirsson to showe him for fizo again two years later after she got him. Aragon got higher score and was the 2nd highest 6year old stallion in Germany that year with over 8,50 for riding abilities. There of 9 for spirit and 9,5 for pace.
Now Aragon is still growing well and Maike has been working well with this fun horse. We liked Aragon right away when he was a foal and brought his mom to Ágústínus f. Melaleiti again. (Aragon´s father) to get a breeding mare. We where lucky and got Aragon´s full sister hier in Iceland that we are using in our breeding.
Here she is with her first offspring out of the world champion Konsert f.Hofi.
Aragon og Maike gera það gott í Þýskalandi.
Maike eignaðist Aragon þegar hann var 4 vetra eftir að hann var sýndur í kynbótadóm hér á landi. Hún vann vel með hann og fékk Þórð til að sýna hann tvemur árum seinna og hækkaði klárinn duglega og fékk m.a. yfir 8,50 fyrir hæfileika.
Hann fékk m.a. 9,5 fyrir skeið og 9 fyrir vilja og geð.

Aragon heldur áfram að þróast vel og gaman að fá fréttir af því. Þegar Aragon var folald leist okkur svo vel á hann að okkur langaði að fá hryssu með sama blóð (Sveifla*Ágústínus). Við héldum því Sveiflu aftur undir Ágústínus og fengum alsystir Aragons sem við notum í ræktuninni hjá okkur í dag. Hryssan kastaði foaldi undan Konsert frá Hofi og er það fyrsta folaldið undan alsystur Aragon´s.

Fjórðungmsót á Austurlandi (FM2015)

We went to fjórðungsmót in the east last weekend with 11 horses. 10 breedinghorses and 1 horse for A-flokkur. We where very satisfied with how everything went there. Good horses, good atmosphere and nice people to visit there in the east part.
Our mare Vissa went on her second competition and did got the highest score for pace from all the horses in B-finals She is a promising competetionhorse and has chartcter that is easy to handle in competition.
The A-flokks horse came to B-finals and many of the breedinghorses did get higher score and many of them where among the highest ones. For those who are looking for some future competition horse then there are some of them for sale. Have a look at the salepage.
From our breed we went with one 4 year old mare that ended up to be the highest one on this show (FM15). We are very happy about that
Garún f.Garðshorni á Þelamörk, 8,26 for gaits there of 9 for spirit. Garún got both 1.pr for conformation and building in group of 4 year old mares.

Á mótið fórum við með 10 kynbótahross og eitt hross í A-flokk. A-flokk hryssan endaði í B-úrslitum og af þeim hestum sem við fórum með sem kynbótahross varð niðurstaðan að;
Í flokki 6 vetra stóðhesta var Jarl f.Höskuldsstöðum efstur, Stálasonur með 1.verðl. f. byggingu og hæfileika. Fyrir hæfileika hlaut hann 8,39. Klakinn f.Skagaströnd, Álfssonur kom þar á eftir með mjög háan byggingardóm (8,56) og 8,20 í aðaleinkun.
Í flokki 5 vetra stóðhesta varð annar Megas f. Gauksmýri með 1.verðl. fyrir bæði byggingu og hæfileika. Fyrir hæfileika hlaut Megas 8,49 og í aðaleinkun 8,35. Megas er undan Glym f. Innri-Skeljabrekku og hlaut hann m.a. 9 fyrir skeið og vilja og geðslag. Þriðji var Akur f.Kagaðarhóli, Arðssonur með 1.verðl. fyrir bæði byggingu og hæfileika. Fyrir hæfileika hlaut Akur 8,38 og í aðaleinkun 8,26. Fimmti í röðinni af þeim fimm vetra hestum sem við fórum með var Baldur f.Akureyri, Bragasonur með 1.verðl. fyrir byggingu og hæfileika, 8,08 fyrir hæfileika og 8,06 í aðaleinkun.
Árblakkur f. Laugarsteini var efstur í flokki 4.v stóðhesta með 1.verðl. fyrir byggingu og hæfileika. Fyrir hæfileika hlaut Árblakkur 8,41 og er hann undan Ágústínus f. Melaleiti.
Við fórum svo með fjórar hryssur á mótið og hlaut Jónsmessa f. Gunnarsstöðum í elsta flokki hryssna þriðja sætið með 8,46 fyrir hæfileika, í aðaleinkun 8,26. Nýgína f. hryggstekk 5v. hryssa með 1.verðl. fyrir byggingu og 7,89 í aðaleinkun. Í flokki 4v. hryssna varð efst hryssa úr okkar ræktun Garún f. Garðshorni á Þelamörk með 1.verðl. f. byggingu og hæfileika. F. hæfileika hlaut Garún 8,25 og í aðaleinkun 8,16. Í þriðja sæti í 4v. flokk hryssna varð Kappadóttirin Óskastund f. Kommu með 8,36 fyrir byggingu og 7,93 f.hæfileika (sýnd sem klárhryssa) með m.a. 9 fyrir vilja og geð, í aðaleinkun 8,1.

Our mare Vissa has had foals for three years now. See did not get foal last year so we took her in January inside for training. We went competing for the first time on oval track and got the note 8,53 what we where pretty satisfied with

Breedingshow in the west

First round of the breedingshow this sommer is almost over. Two days before one of the shows we decided to show one of our breeding mare that did not get foal last summer for some reason.
Vissa is the name of the mare, the meaning of the name is when you are sure of something, like sure she will be good or do something.
Vissa has had three foals since she was showed 4 years old so she was pretty quick in getting into shape again. Vissa did well and went from total score 8,06 to 8,27. For gaits she went from having 8,31 four years old to 8,54.
Judges notes about Vissa
Tölt:8,5. Good speed, high action & long strides in the Pace; 9,5 clear beat, sure, impressive. Spirit; 9 Eager, enthusiastic, cooperative. General impression: 8,5 Big movements
Riding abilities; 8,54, Conformation; 7,87, Total:8,27.
We are very satisfied of our decision to bring her to breeding show and show her again. On the pictures you can see Vissa playing with our other breed (the Icelandic Sheep) and a chestnut stallion, her first offspring, out of Fáfnir f.Hvolsvelli.

The father of the stallion got 8,26 for gaits and was showed as a fourgaited horse. For conformation he got 8,38, there of 9 for neck, tölt, trot, temperament and form under rider. It will be intresting to see what will come out of this mixture

Nú fara kynbótasýningar að líða undir lok um sinn. Tvemur dögum fyrir kynbótasýninguna á Miðfossum var Vissa f. Lambanesi í stuði og ákváðum við að kippa undan henni keppnisjárninguna og skella henni aftur í dóm.
Vissa er búin að vera í folaldseign síðan hún var sýnd 4.vetra og á orðið 3 afkvæmi út í stóði. Hún héllt ekki síðastliðið sumar og var því að sjálfsögðu tekin inn til að hafa gaman af. Vissa var ekki lengi að komast í form og að temjast meir heldur en það sem gert var þegar hún var 4.vetra. Hún stóð sig vel og hækkaði sinn fyrri dóm og fór úr 8,08 í aðaleinkun í 8,27.
Fyrir hæfileika fór hún úr 8,31 í 8,54.. Við erum mjög ánægð með þessa ákvörðunartöku að rúlla henni aftur í dóm og á myndunum má sjá skvísuna leika sér við hina ræktunina á bænum,hennar fyrsta afkvæmi sem verður tamið næstkomandi haust og nýja dóminn.
Sá rauði undan Vissu er hestur undan Fáfni f.Hvolsvelli, en Kolla náði þessari skemmtilegu mynd af klárnum þegar hún kom við í vikunni. Fáfnir fékk á sínum tíma 8,26 fyrir hæfileika og var sýndur sem klárhestur. Over to Finland
Couple of years ago Anki and Freja came to us on our farm in Iceland looking for a competitionhorse for Freja. Freja rode Röskur f. Lambanesi and they fitted very well together so he flew over to Finland couple of days later.
Now latly they lost one of their breedingmare, they contacted us and got from us two interesting breedingmares. Two mares that will get foals this spring. Those mares are Vaka f. Hólabaki and Gloría f. Glóru that we have been using in our breeding here in Iceland. Vaka will get foal with Hersir frá Lambanesi and Gloría will have one from Sólon frá Skáney.

----Finnlandsfararnir
Nú á dögunum fóru tvær ræktunarhryssur frá okkur til Finnlands. Alltaf gaman þegar fólk kemur aftur í leit að hrossum og var það svo í þetta sinn. Fyrir X árum komu Anki og Freja til Íslands að leita að keppnishesti fyrir Freju. Þau prófuðu Rösk frá Lambanesi og pössuðu Freja og Röskur frábærlega vel saman. Nú um daginn misstu þær eina af sínum folaldshryssum og eru nú tvær áhugaverðar fylfullar hryssur frá okkur lenntar hjá þeim í Finnlandi.
Það eru hryssurnar Vaka f. Hólabaki og Gloría f.Glóru. Vaka er fylfull við Hersi frá Lambanesi og Gloría við Sólon frá Skáney. Þannig að flotta fjölskyldan í Finnlandi fær nú fjögur ný hross frá okkur. Ég fór eitt vor út í heimsókn til þeirra og er ekki hægt að hugsa sér betra líf fyrir hesta.

Höll & Vænting in Germany/new breedingname

Höll frá Lambanesi, 5year old on her first competition.
Two of our mares got new owners and moved to Germany. After some thoughts about what we would do with the breedingname we decide to change it to the name of our new farm. Garðshorn á Þelamörk, so the first mare named with that breeding went to Germany, Vænting frá Garðshorni á Þelamörk.
Vænting means hope, so we hope she will bring new owners much joy in the future. She has a good bloodline from both mother and father. She is daughter of Elding f. Lambanesi that is the mother of Hersir and Vissa frá Lambanesi, both those horses where the highest ones for gaits when they where showed 4 years old.
The father of that pretty mare is Hlébarði f.Ketilsstöðum. Congratulate new owners & rider for those interesting mares... Hope we will hear more from them in the future

Höll og Vænting komnar til Þýskalands.
Eftir pínulítlar vangaveltur hvað hrossin skyldu vera kennd við í framtíðinni var ákveðið að breyta ræktunarnafninu yfir í heitið á jörðinni sem við höfum fest kaup á. Öll ósýnd hross frá okkur hafa nú verið skráð frá Garðshorni á Þelamörk. Fyrsta hryssan kennd við bæinn flaug til Þýskalands í vikunni. Hryssan fékk nafnið Vænting frá Garðshorni á Þelamörk og vonum við svo sannarlega að hún standi undir Væntingum okkar. Þessi hryssa er undan Eldingu frá Lambanesi og Hlébarða frá Ketilsstöðum og því má segja að þarna búi talsvert gæðingsblóð að baki í báðar áttir. Fyrir þá sem ekki vita en þá er Elding móðir m.a. Hersirs og Vissu frá Lambanesi. Vænting fór ekki einsömul til Þýskalands heldur fór Höll frá Lambanesi með í för og óskum við nýjum eigendum farsældar með nýju reiðskjóta sína
Horsetraining starts again

We started bit late this year with training from the young horses but now we have this stable finnished and we are very satisfied with our job and our helper
We changed kaustable and a hey barn into a horsestable...pretty much work but we made it..
nú er allt að mjakast í gang og flest tryppin orðin reiðfær, en það var í seinni kantinum í ár vegna framkvæmda við hesthús hér að Garðshorni. Mikið um unghross eins og svo oft áður og úr öllum áttum og að öllum gerðum. Það eru tryppi undan Hrímni frá Ósi, Glym frá Innri-Skeljabreeku, Álf, Arð, Héðinn frá Feti, Dofra frá Steinnesi, Eitil frá Stóru-Ásgeirsá.... og fleirum..

Agnar Þór & Birna getting award for having two of three highest judged 4 year old stallions on Fjórðungsmót á Kaldármelum. Hersir f. Lambanesi was the highest judged and Laxnes f. Lambanesi was the third.

Jæja þá er komið að því að setja inn reglulegar fréttir. Fyrsta mót KB mótaraðarinnar fer að hefjast, eða 2.febrúar og virðist stemningin fyrir mótinu bara fara uppávið frá ári til árs Mikið framundan hjá okkur hestamönnum, íslandsmót, fjórðungsmót og svo heimsmeistaramót... Alltaf eitthvað um að vera sem betur fer.

Talsvert er um ung hross í tamningu hjá okkur núna eins og vanalega og úr öllum áttum, og eitthvað af eldri hrossum sem stefnt er með í keppni og/eða kynbótadóm.
